The Seventh-day Sabbath

Seventh-day Adventist believe that the Seventh day is the Sabbath of God which He gave to the human family in Eden Genesis 2:1-3. This was done after a literal twenty four six day time period.

The Sabbath is a pause in time for us to allow the mind and body to be refreshed. We remember that the creator of the universe took the time to rest after the earth came from the hand of the creator in all of its beauty.

The Sabbath is a part of the Decalogue (the ten commandments) and identifies the lawgiver. It was presented to Israel after their exodus from Egypt as a reminder that their deliverer is also their creator. Exodus 20:8-11. It calls for us to show compassion to others, our workers even the animals.

Our creator is also our redeemer John 1:1-3, 14 and as such the Sabbath then becomes a sign of our rest in Jesus Ezekiel 20:12

We worship on the Sabbath following the practice of Jesus Luke 4:16 and the disciples of the early church. Acts 13:14, 42-44, 16:13. The Sabbath is celebrated from sunset Friday to sunset Saturday. Mark 1:32

The Doctrine of the Sanctuary

When God decided to have a closer relationship with His chosen people, He told them to make Him a Sanctuary. Exodus 25:8, The tabernacle in the wilderness was to be constructed after the pattern that Moses was shown, a picture of the true sanctuary which the Lord pitched and not man. Jesus is said to be seated at the right hand of God a position of prestige and honour while serving as High Priest. Hebrews 8:1-2

In the sanctuary He applies the benefits oh His sacrifice on earth and forgives the sines of His people. It is here Jesus our High Priest began the second phase of His ministry in 1844. See. Daniel 8:13-14, 9:24-27

This second phase of our High Priest reveals to the watching universe who among the dead will be saved and who among the livng is abiding in Jesus and experiencing a saving relationship and allowing Him to transform to through obedience, making them ready to be translated at His appearing.

The Second Coming

The second coming of Christ is the blessed hope of the church, the grand climax of the gospel. Titus 2:11-14 The Saviour’s coming will be literal, personal, visible, and worldwide. When He returns, 1 Revelation 1:7, the righteous dead will be resurrected, and together with the righteous living will be glorified and taken to heaven, Thessalonians 4:13-18; but the unrighteous will die. 2 Thessalonians 1:7-10 The almost complete fulfillment of most lines of prophecy, together with the present condition of the world, indicates that Christ’s coming is near. The time of that event has not been revealed, and we are therefore exhorted to be ready at all times.

The State of the Dead (Death and Resurrection)

The wages of sin is death. Romans 6:23 But God, who alone is immortal, will grant eternal life to His redeemed. Romans 3:23 Until that day death is an unconscious state for all people. Ecclesiastes 9:5-6 When Christ, who is our life, appears, the resurrected righteous and the living righteous will be glorified and caught up to meet their Lord. 1 Corinthians 15:51-54 The second resurrection, the resurrection of the unrighteous, will take place a thousand years later. Revelation 20:1-10.

The Spirit of Prophecy

The Scriptures testify that one of the gifts of the Holy Spirit is prophecy. Ephesians 4;11-14.  This gift is an identifying mark of the remnant church Revelation 12:17, 19:10, and we believe it was manifested in the ministry of Ellen G. White. Her writings speak with prophetic authority and provide comfort, guidance, instruction, and correction to the church. They also make clear that the Bible is the standard by which all teaching and experience must be tested. 2 Timothy 3;16

The Experience of Salvation

Because of His great love for us, God allowed His son who willingly sacrificed Himself to pay the penalty of sin which is death. John 3:16 The Holy Spirit impresses upon us our sinfulness and leads us to confess, repent and forsake our sins Romans 2:4 so that we may receive the righteousness of God as found In Jesus. Because of what Jesus has done, we are adopted as sons and daughters of God Romans 8:16-17 and delivered from the dominance of sin. As a result of this transformation, we are not only born again, but are now being transformed to become like Jesus 1 John 2:29 as His law is written on our hearts enabling us to obey it. Hebrews 8:10

The Remnant and Its Mission

The universal church is composed of all who truly believe in Christ, but in the last days, a time of widespread apostasy, a remnant has been called out to keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus. This remnant announces the arrival of the judgment hour, proclaims salvation through Christ, and heralds the approach of His second advent. This proclamation is symbolized by the three angels of Revelation 14; it coincides with the work of judgment in heaven and results in a work of repentance and reform on earth. Every believer is called to have a personal part in this worldwide witness.
